Mali defeats Germany to book semi-final place in the FIFA U-20 World Cup

Mali have defeat Germany in the on going U-20 FIFA World Cup to qualify for the semi-final match.  It can be recalled that the Germans the Super Eagles off the championship as they beat the Nigerian team.  They couldn't repeat the defeat with another African representative losing 3-4 on penalties, after playing a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes and extra-time, Mali progressed to the semi-final with a penalty shoot-out victory.
Julian Brandt gave Germany the lead in the 38th minute with a volley from the edge of the area that skipped the turf into the bottom area.After starting the second half brightly, Mali had the chance for an equaliser after a penalty was handed to them from a foul on Jeremy Dudiak but Djigui Diarra's spot kick was saved.Two minutes later however, they got a deserved goal.
  A foul on the left flank gave Youssouf Kone the chance to swing a cross into the German area and Souleymane Coulibaly met it perfectly for the equaliser.
In other results, Brazil beat Portugal on penalties after a 0-0 while the United States of America lost via a penalty shoot-out to Serbia.  Another African team, Senegal are also in the semi-finals after a 1-0 win over Uzbekistan.
