(Photos) See What Soldiers Did To Two Customers at Capital One Filling Station

The military must always be different. While
Nigerians trooped into a petrol station in Lagos with
gallons/kegs in search of fuel, Nigerian soldiers
rolled in 'Gangnam style' -carrying big DRUMS to
purchase the scarce commodity. The soldiers were
seen at the Ojodu Berger outlet of Capital Oil,
intimidating those that stood in their way.
Meanwhile, two Lagosians were unfortunate after
they provoked some soldiers in one of the fuel
stations in the state. The soldiers who had been
frustrated due to the fuel scarcity took out their
anger on the two -as they engaged them in a
punishment there and then (laying under the sun for
hours).

The real reason behind fuel scarcity in Nigeria

According to a statement by the Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Sunny Nkpe, Nigeria is constantly plagued with fuel crises because it’s not using its refineries.

He revealed that Nigeria’s refineries can produce 50-60% of the fuel the country needs but they’ve been shut down for more than a year.

“We have refineries that can refine 450,000 barrels of crude oil per day, that’s millions of litres of refined product,” he stated.

“Why are we not using the refineries? Let them use the refineries,” Nkpe said.

An industry insider, who chose to remain anonymous, told Pulse that the relevant government agencies refuse to use the local refineries to produce the country’s needs because there’s much more money to be fraudulently gotten from importing the product.

“They are knowingly boycotting the refineries,” she said. “They make more money with importation due to corruption and fraud,” she added.

The fuel subsidy regime in Nigeria has come to be viewed as a huge scam, a notion buttressed by the 2014 arrest of 121 suspects, who were believed to have benefited from it, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The current scarcity is said to be an artificial creation of the marketers in attempts to force the government to pay the remaining subsidy debt it owes them before a new administration is inaugurated on May 29, 2015.

Meanwhile, the marketers have called of their strike and are expected to begin supplying product nationwide to end the scarcity.

However, until the real problems causing the scarcity are resolved, Nigerians are left asking how long it will be before the next crisis occurs.

Marijuana use can lead to stunted growth in teen boys - Experts

Dangers of marijuana
Recently, medical experts have alluded to the medical advantages of marijuana. But it appears this can only be after a certain age as a study has shown that use of marijuana with teen boys can lead to stunted growth.
According to the study presented at the European Congress of Endocrinology in Dublin, Ireland, researchers at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Agriculture University Rawalpindi in Pakistan found boys who smoke marijuana through puberty will stunt their growth due to a decrease in growth hormone levels.
Speaking on the finding, Dr. Syed Shakeel Raza Rizvi, lead author of the study said:
"Early puberty is associated with younger age of onset of drinking and smoking, and early matures have higher levels of substance abuse because they enter the risk period at an early level of emotional maturity,”
He further said that  "marijuana use may provoke a stress response that stimulates onset of puberty but suppresses growth rate,"
During the research, the group assessed puberty and growth-related hormones in the blood of 220 non-smoking and 217 marijuana-addicted boys.
The research team also examined the levels of the stress hormone cortisol through collecting saliva samples among 10 adult marijuana users.
It was then found that puberty-related hormones such as testosterone and luteinizing hormone (LH), increased among marijuana smokers. But growth hormones decreased in this group.
When researchers checked back in with the men at age 20, the non-smokers were on average 4 kilograms heavier and 4.6 inches taller than their marijuana-smoking counterparts.
According to MSN, the growing concerns over the effects of marijuana use on teens, surrounds the developing brain.
The mind-altering drug can disrupt the transition that takes place form the brain of a child into the brain of an adult by suppressing neurons in the hippocampus and causing learned behaviors to deteriorate.
Furthermore, a 2010 study published in the journal Clinical EEG and Neuroscience found the use of marijuana during the teen years negatively impacted brain structure volume, quality of white manner, and the ability to perform cognitive function.

Beware of fake rice
Reports say plastic rice sold on the Chinese market has reportedly found its way into various Asian countries, including India, Indonesia and Vietnam.
According to the International Business Times, the fake rice is made by mixing potatoes, sweet potatoes and synthetic resin.
Meanwhile, health experts have warned that consuming the fake grains could seriously damage the digestive system.
According to a statement from a spokesman from the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority who addressed rumours that the rice had entered Singapore, "imported rice is regularly inspected and sampled to ensure compliance with our food safety standards and requirements. We have not received any feedback on fake rice"
In a similar move, the Malaysian Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry likewise denied receiving any reports about the resin-laced grains, but said if it were to have gotten into Malaysia, it would most likely be sold at small shops rather than large supermarkets.

How Buhari snubbed petroleum minister, Allison Madueke on British Airways

Muhammadu Buhari ,
refused a conversation with the Minister of
Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke ,
who allegedly booked the same flight to London on
Friday, May 22, with the intention of a possible
dialogue.
According to Sahara Reporters, Buhari only
exchanged greetings with the Minister while they
were boarding the British Airways aircraft, and
further attempts by Alison-Madueke to strike a
dialogue after they had settled down in their First
Class compartment seats, was ignored by the
retired Major-General.
The Minister was said to have booked herself into
the seat directly behind Buhari’s.
It was reported that she got up a few times to
make a conversation with Buhari, but he only
nodded without permitting any dialogue.
Punch reported that the Minister ran to catch up
with the President-elect at the Nnamdi Azikwe
Airport, Abuja before their flight.
Alison-Madueke’s UK trip was said to be originally
scheduled for next Tuesday, May 26, after
honouring the Senate summon over the lingering
fuel crisis on Monday, May 25.
Sources said she changed her schedule, booking
herself on the same flight with Buhari after learning
of his trip.
It is believed that the Minister is scheming to be in
the good books of the President-elect as her
ministry is described as the most corrupt in
Jonathan administration, and may be first to be
probed by Buhari government.
