There has been rumors that US First Lady, Michelle Obama will be present during the inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari, but the expectation was turned down as President Barack Obama and Michelle disclosed that she will be absent during the inauguration ceremony, rather, a delegate would be representing them.
It
was earlier rumoured that the First Lady would be part of the
delegation but the White House has said that she won’t be in attendance.
“The First Lady will not be traveling to Nigeria,” Caroline Adler, communications director in the Mrs Obama’s office, said on Thursday, May 7, 2015.
Senior
White House officials who could be chosen to attend the inauguration,
which will hold on Friday, May 29, 2015, include Vice President, Joe Biden and Secretary of State, John Kerry.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to the US, Ade Adefuye confirmed that an “unusually large American delegation” would attend the event.
